Yep; like CLIFF says, that 4-5 MoftM into DS is sublime. Arb and I have searched high and low for better, and haven't found one yet...

That little "university run" in mid month where they are figuratively (literally?) FLYING from one state to the next (AZ, UT, CO, etc) is amazing...

But, I always come back to 4-5 and that transition...

I think I like the one on 2-27 a little better, but that's just me.

Ha! Funny, but for the 69 yr "best of" I ended up going with that one so that I would have a great MoftM into DS, even though I was thinking I still liked 4-5 better...just decided at the last minute, so I am glad to have your vote of confidence...hadn't really listened to the 27th much...69 was a bitch, selection wise.

An exceptional month all-around - not only are they starting to shake up the setlists, they give us intense jams every night - it's a month of great Crypticals (and even a few Viola Lees) as well as great Dark Stars.

When I was reviewing Mountains of the Moon I decided the 4/22 transition was my favorite....4/22 also has my favorite Star of the month since it goes the farthest 'out', but they're all good. The 4/27 Dick's Pick must also be mentioned!

The hauntingly beautiful acoustic segue into DS on 4/5 is certainly one of the most sublime and amazing two and one-half minutes of music I have heard from the Grateful Dead...
